Global Property & Liability Insurance Receives Stable Outlook for 2026

The global property and liability (P&C) insurance industry has maintained a stable outlook for 2026 from international rating agency Moody’s.

Positive factors influencing the P&C sector in 2026, according to Moody’s report, will be growing insurer profitability and strong capitalization.

The online resource UkrStrakhuvana is aware that a year ago, Moody’s rating outlook for the P&C sector was revised from negative to stable. For the current year, the rating outlook is favorable for both commercial lines and private P&C insurance.

“The combined price increase has improved the profitability of motor and homeowners insurance. This will help insurers maintain stable profitability in the personal insurance segment in 2026. However, the pace of price increases will slow down as improved profitability will intensify price competition,” the report says.

As a reminder, global catastrophe reinsurance prices will decline from the beginning of 2026, as the majority of NatCat losses fall on primary insurers.

According to JP Morgan’s forecast, the decline in natural catastrophe reinsurance prices since the beginning of the year will be “two-digit percent.”
