The number of insurance companies in Ukraine decreased to 95 in June

The number of non-bank financial market participants decreased from 1,045 (as of April 30, 2024) to 1,014 (as of May 31, 2024) in May. The number of banks remained unchanged at 63.

26 financial companies and one risk insurer were forcibly excluded from the registers.

During May, 8 financial companies, one insurer and a pawnbroker had all their licenses revoked forcibly, another 18 financial companies, one pawnbroker and two credit unions had their licenses revoked voluntarily (on the basis of their applications). 12 financial companies have been approved by the National Bank to narrow the scope of the license for the type of activity of providing financial services.

As of May 31, there were 555 financial companies working on the non-bank financial services market (in April there were 581), 83 non-life insurers (there were 84), 12 life insurers (the number did not change), one insurer with a special status, 40 insurance brokers ( the number has not changed).

The market recognized 18 banking groups (the number has not changed) and 27 non-banking financial groups (the previous number was 22).

In May, the National Bank received 464 requests from market participants for registration and licensing actions. The number of inquiries regarding financial companies, insurers – 135, banks – 38.
