AM Best rating agency compiled a list of the largest insurers
The international rating agency AM Best has compiled a rating of the largest insurance companies based on the premium income received in 2022.
According to AM Best, the American health insurance company UnitedHealth holds the first place in the ranking of the 25 largest insurance companies in the world for the ninth year in a row. The insurer increased premium income in 2022 by 14% to $257.2 billion.
In the second and third places are US health insurers Centene Corporation and Elevance Health. The top 10 also includes Kaiser Foundation Group (USA), China’s Ping An Insurance, China Life Insurance, France’s AXA, Allianz Group from Germany, Humana and State Farm from the USA.
Germany’s leading insurance group Allianz SE ranks first in non-bank assets at $1.1 trillion, despite a 10% decline from the previous year.
China’s Ping An is in second place, Berkshire Hathaway (USA) is in third place, China Life and AXA Group are in fourth and fifth place.
