The number of insurance companies in Ukraine decreased to 111 in September

The number of non-bank financial market participants decreased from 1,234 (as of August 31) to 1,215 (as of September 30) in September, while the number of banks remained unchanged at 64.

20 participants of the non-bank financial services market were excluded from the registers: six financial companies, two pawn shops, three credit unions and one insurance broker – voluntarily, the other five financial companies, two insurers and one pawn shop – forcibly.

In September, the National Bank received 220 requests from market participants for registration and licensing actions. The number of inquiries regarding financial companies, pawnshops and lessors was 165, regarding banks – 17, credit unions and collectors – 7, insurers – 28, payment institutions – 3.

During the month, licenses of four insurers were compulsorily revoked (as a measure of influence).

Refusal to approve acquisition/increase of significant participation in two insurers. The licenses of two insurers have been suspended. One financial company was denied a license.

As of September 30, 99 non-life insurers worked in the non-bank market (in August there were 101), 12 life insurers (the number did not change), one insurer with a special status, 158 pawnbrokers (was 161), 143 credit unions (was 146) , 82 leasing companies (the number did not change), 594 financial companies (there were 606), 56 insurance brokers (there were 57), 70 collection companies (there were 68). In addition, 24 banking groups (there were 25) and 20 non-banking groups (there were 21) were recognized on the market.
